Public Utility Commission State Documents
The Public Utility Commission (PUC) supervises and regulates all public utilities doing business in the Commonwealth. The Commission balances the needs of consumers and utilities; ensures safe and reliable utility service at reasonable rates; protects the public interest; and educates consumers to make independent and informed utility choices. Under the Public Utility Code, the Commission regulates public utility entities furnishing in-state services for compensation of electricity, natural gas, telephone, water, wastewater collection and disposal, steam heat, transportation of passengers and property, and transportation of gas and oil by pipeline.
The publications of the Public Utility Commission contain annual reports, biennial reports, statistical reports, and other reports. Selected topics from these publications include alternative energy, utility company surveys and statistics, outages from disasters, etc. The bulk of the current material is dated from 1979 to present.
