Council on the Arts
The Pennsylvania Council on the Arts encourages the development of the various arts in the Commonwealth. The Council awards state and federal funds to arts organizations, programs and projects; supports teaching artist residencies; and offers valuable research and information services. The Council awards more than 1,600 grants and services per year.

Fish and Boat Commission
The Fish and Boat Commission sets rules and regulations governing fishing and boating in and on all inland and boundary waters of the Commonwealth. In addition to managing and protecting the state’s aquatic resources, the Commission also is mandated with the responsibility for all of the state’s reptiles and amphibians.

Game Commission
The Game Commission is responsible for the scientific management of all wild birds and mammals in the Commonwealth according to the Game and Wildlife Code. The Game Commission is responsible for enforcing the Commonwealth's game laws relating to the management, protection and preservation of game, birds, and fur-bearing animals. The Commission regulates the hunting and trapping of game, sets bag limits, operates game farms and employs game protectors.

Selected topics from these publications include annual wildlife concerns, wildlife protections, wildlife diversity, wildlife action plans, state game lands, and the Pennsylvania Game News. Historical and Museum Commission
The Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission preserves the Commonwealth's historic heritage. The Commission administers the state archival and records management program and numerous museums and historical sites. The Commission also assists local historical societies and governmental agencies in all matters regarding historical preservation, conducts research and publication programs to promote Pennsylvania history, and manages the State Records Center.

Human Relations Commission
The Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission enforces the civil rights laws of the Commonwealth by administering the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act and the Pennsylvania Fair Educational Opportunities Act. The Commission’s goal is to eliminate unlawful discrimination in employment, housing, commercial real estate, public accommodations, and education. The Commission conducts two principal programs: a compliance program in which discrimination cases are investigated and resolved, and an educational outreach program. The Commission also works with a network of public and private agencies to address community tensions that may arise following hate crimes or other public expressions of bias.

Liquor Control Board
The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) acts to responsibly sell wine and spirits as a retailer and wholesaler, regulate Pennsylvania’s alcohol industry, and promote alcohol education and social responsibility. The PLCB regulates the manufacture, importation, sale, distribution and disposition of liquor, alcohol and malt or brewed beverages in the commonwealth. The agency issues licenses to private individuals or entities that wish to engage in wholesale operations of beer. The agency is responsible for wholesale operations of wine and spirits.

Pennsylvania Milk Board
The Pennsylvania Milk Board acts to supervise and regulate the entire milk industry of the Commonwealth, including production, manufacture, processing, storage, transportation, disposal, distribution, and sale of milk and milk products for the protection of the health and welfare of the inhabitants. The Board also provides security for farmers by licensing milk dealers and bonding those dealers for milk purchased from Pennsylvania farmers.

Pennsylvania Parole Board
The Pennsylvania Parole Board is authorized by statute to grant parole and to supervise all offenders sentenced by the courts to a maximum sentence of two years or more; to revoke the parole of technical parole violators and those convicted of new crimes; and to release from parole persons under supervision who have served their sentence in compliance with the conditions governing their parole. The Board has the authority to revoke parole and return an individual to prison.

Pennsylvania Parole Board - Office of Victim Advocate
The Office of Victim Advocate is under jurisdiction of the Pennsylvania Parole Board. The Office has the duty to represent the interests of crime victims within the criminal justice systems, to represent registered crime victims before the Parole Board and the Department of Corrections, to supervise victim notification duties, to assist in and coordinate the preparation of testimony by the crime victims prior to a release decision, and to address the interests of all victims before the Parole Board and Department of Corrections. The Office of Victim Advocate provides services to victims of crime in cases where the court has rendered jurisdiction of the offender to the Department of Corrections and/or the Parole Board.

Public Utility Commission
The Public Utility Commission (PUC) supervises and regulates all public utilities doing business in the Commonwealth. The Commission balances the needs of consumers and utilities; ensures safe and reliable utility service at reasonable rates; protects the public interest; and educates consumers to make independent and informed utility choices. Under the Public Utility Code, the Commission regulates public utility entities furnishing in-state services for compensation of electricity, natural gas, telephone, water, wastewater collection and disposal, steam heat, transportation of passengers and property, and transportation of gas and oil by pipeline.

State Civil Service Commission
The State Civil Service Commission works to promote greater efficiency and economy in government by applying merit system methods and principles to state personnel management. The Civil Service Commission serves as an enforcement, regulatory and investigative body in carrying out the provisions of the Civil Service Act as amended. The Commission recruits and examines job applicants, certifies employment and promotion lists, and hears appeals against actions of appointing authorities.
